the launch of spring break

Hello all of my movie reader fanatics. It's ya boy Johnny Bushido. Now let me tell you that this past week was like hell. 2 fucking papers in history and media. I didn't even get done with my media paper until like 2am last night (hate lack of sleep). I imagine what it would have been like if those two paper were due on the same day (ahhhhh!). Still, the week is finally over and my spring break has officially began.

It's kind of jacked up that we have spring break this early. I mean I think the break would have been more appropriate in like a few more weeks. I mean there still fucking snow on the ground, and the city still might get more. I wish I could go to like the real sunny Cancun and get fucked up on beach fucking random women while listening to party music (was that dirty?). Unfortunately people can't always have what they want.

So I looked at Rotten Tomatoes today to see what grade the new movies got. I really want to see Cop Out with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, but they have been tearing that shit up. it's at like a 16% the last I looked and this is an epic film. It is a shame because the reviews either talk about the weak script, sub par director, the annoyance of Morgan, and the fact that it's just not funny.
The thing about Tracy Morgan is that the guy just fucking annoys me so much. His voice just splits my ears and a lot of the time I think he just tries to hard. In the stuff I have seen him he's just not that funny. The exception is with 30 Rock, because I think he's a little funny on there, but I haven't really watched the show that often to tell.

Another thing is with Kevin Smith, who has a decent list of films I loved Clerks 1& 2, Chasing Amy, and Zach and Miri Make a Porno. I hated Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. This is Smith's lowest rated film, but still may be highest grossing film, leading him out of Kevin Smith B.O. How sad, but I like Smith and can't wait for Clerks 3 and Red State.

The Crazies is also coming out this week, which is a remake of George Romero's 1973 cult classic. Surprisingly it's getting good reviews for a scary movie (a zombie movie no less). So I will eventually have to see that. ANother movie Hot Tube Time Machine is one I have to see because I am still pissed that I couldn't see it last night. I won a buttload of tickets to see the film at a local movie theater. Some friends of mine went (even my mom went). They all said it was really funny. I am so jealous because I had to finish that damn media paper. If I had my shit in order then would have been able to see it. This doesn't mean to do a 5 page paper two days before it's due.

I am also going to the video store tonight since I haven't been there in almost two months. I really want to see that new Coen Brothers's movie a Serious Man, which is nominated for Best Picture this year. I like the Coen Bros. now, because I think the first movie I've seen of theirs is No Country for Old Men (the end confused the fuck out of me). Then I saw Burn After Reading, which is a hilarious screwball comedy set in the modern world. I can't even tell you what the movie is about because it's all over the place, but that's the point.

Well that's it, and since i'm on vacation I can blog more this week (oh yeah). Oh and if I ever get any readers can you put some movie in the comment section that you would recommend. I like comedies, action/adventure, and animated films. Please no documentaries, romance, or horror. Maybe some foreign films. preferably ones from Asian countries and Europe (don't give that Bollywood shit). Peace.

The Big B.O.

So hello there. I haven't been here in a few days and it does not really matter. Well, I mean it does because this is the best blog ever and I have to remain steady. I heard yesterday that Shutter Island is number one at the box office and made an estimated 40 million, which is not bad at all. It's a personal best for Leonardo Dicaprio and Scorsese. More so to Scorsese because his films usually tend to open to lower numbers since his movie have an artsy feel to it.

I'm glad for the both of them and the audiences really liked the film. Well, at least my screening. The film is decent, but it is Scorsese weakest film in a while, but like I said earlier, even Scorsese's weakest film are a shit load better than other film. The film is sitting on a 69% right now so the critics are giving a lukewarm reception right now. I watched At the Movies right now, which is better since the two Ben's left (esp. Ben Lyons). The hosts are Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott, who I have respect for. They will never replace Siskel and Ebert, but that's an impossible feat anyway. They both said skip it and I can see why. They claim that the ending can be seen a mile away, the visuals are distracting, and that movie ends up being unintereting after a while.

Anyway at the box office Valentine's Day just epically failed as its gross dropped a huge 70%, which is bad. It will still cross the 100 million dollar barrier and I beleive it will do so. Avatar continued to shine as always and will reach the 700 million barrier (fucking amazing). Percy Jackson is hanging in there and might make it to 100 million, which can give to studio enough confidence to greenlight a sequel. The Wolfman is doing fucking terrible, but not as bad as From Paris to Love. All the movie are doing avaerage business so far, still latching on to the behemoth called Avatar.

Things will getter as Cop Out and The Crazies come out this Friday. I want to see Cop Out (A Couple of Dicks) because it's directed by Kevin Smith, who is favorite director of mine. However, his films have all done mediorce business. I think Cop Out will break that trend, but it will be a true test as smith has never directed anything he hasn't written. Hopefully it will be good. I really liked Zach and Miri and I thought that showed smith maturing as a director. Of course, despite starring Seth Rogen, the movie did Kevin Smith business. It made about 33 million, which is his highest grossing film. I do not like Tracy Morgan that much. I just can't stand his voice, but after seeing the red band trailer of Cop Out it looks pretty funny. So I hope for the best.

Well that's it for now and wish me luck for my paper, which is something I should be working on right now. Procsationation is a bitch!

Last Night

Hello hello my fellow country men. Last night was very stressful for me. Of course maybe if I didn't half ass study then it would be different. Nah, studying for lames. Nah, I'm jut playing. Education is like a rainbow that leads to places that are pots of gold. Okay, I don't know what the hell I'm saying.

Anyway, I studied for an Understanding New Media test and it was different. I had to study the articles that I didn't read. So reading is the key, but that's what Spring break is for. Well, I probably won' t read them then too. So my attention span is kind of short...........................

Oh sorry I'm back just had to do other shit. Now where was I, oh yeah the whole concentration thing. If procrastination was a major at my college then would ace the damn thing. I'm just fooolin' though.

Anyway I talked a little about Shutter Island last time and after thinking about for a couple of days my grade about a B-, but it's not a low B-. It more of like a 84%. The movie has a creep ambiance to it and I still think Leonardo DiCaprio was a little miscast. He was still a beast though. It is interesting that Leo is becoming Scorsese's new DeNiro. Whenever a Scorsese comes out Leo is in it, but there's nothing wrong with that, but I do find it intrguing though.

Scorsese is in the latter half of his career and the past decade. Bringing Out the Dead seems like an underrated movie and I'm going to watch it eventually. I actually found it when Blockbuster was having a get the shit out our store before we close bargain sale. I was totally there. Didn't find all I was looking for, but found movies that were good. Oh here I go going off topic again. Scorsese didn't really have a Taxi driver or Goodfellas, or a Raging Bull the past decade.

Gangs of New York came out 2002 (supposed to come out in '01 but the whole 9/11 thing fucked that up). This was the movie that was supposed to be his Magnum Opus and a film that will win him Best Director and Best Picture. The movie underwhelmed. It had Daniel 'fucking' Day Lewis, who is like a God in the acting world. You have Leonardo Dicaprio and Cameron Diaz (WTF!?). I heard the Avaitor was pretty good, but it was the Departed that finally won Scorsese the Best Picture and Best Director Oscar. A lot of ppl felt like it was a consollation Oscar for all of his work, and The Departed doesn't seem like his Best Pic.

Now I have yet to see those three films, but it's on my list. That's why I love breaks and summer. Over winter break I was able to watch so many classic movies like Do the Right Thing, Citizen Kane, and the Indiana Jones series (ToD was awesome-don't care wat ppl say). I also got see a couple of Woody Allen films, Annie Hall and Manhattan, which are probably his most critically acclaimed.

Anyway that's it for now. See Shutter Island because there's not much shit out there. Wolfman was decent, but don't expect nuthin' but gore (that's wat we all need anyway). Valentine's Day looks like shit (I was actually about to see that too...eww). If you have a pair of balls don't see Dear John. Percy Jackson looks interesting, but that's rental material. You can also see Avatar and make reach 700 million (go go go). I would go, but I have two papers this weekend :(

Peace.

Escape From Shutter Island

Hey folks, i just saw Shutter Island at the grand Springdale Cinema DeLux 18 and it is good for the most part. I see the reason why the movie got moved from last October to this February. This is not an Oscar worthy film and it would have gotten easily lost in shuffle compared to the other stronger films of 2009. It is Martin Scorsese's weakest film of the decade. However, a weak Martin Scorsese film is still better than a lot of other films.

This film could have been worse if someone else directed it, but Scorsese still manages to save it. It is always hard to do an adaptation off a successful novel. Leonardo Dicaprio is as great as always, and the twist and the end is really good.

Well that's it for now, and I will talk more about it tomorrow. Peace.

Part II

Hello fellow people I am trying to stay consistent, so here I am to rant about movies and stuff. Now I wanna talk about the name of website, which is bttf4ever.blogspot.com. If you don't know what bttf is, it is basically Back to the Future. This is my favorite movie in the whole wide universe!

The reason I say it because it's the best movie of 1985 and probably one of the best films of that decade. It's definitely the best movie about time travel I've ever seen. It is so easy to fuck up time travel in films. Apparently there is no such thing as time travel in real life (someday i'll prove them wrong), and movies can fuck it up because the writers can contradict themselves easily. Back to the Future and the Terminator series (well...just 1& 2) break it down simply enough, and still make sure it actually makes sense in that movie universe. Thank you Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for making a totally sweet script.

Back to the Future has everything you possibly want in it. A likable protagonist, good villain, good plot, and some really clever dialogue and wordplay. Plus it has some memorable characters like Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd. I like the film because of how the plot sets itself up so nicely and is very chaotic. Marty McFly (the great Michael J. Fox) is friends with Doc Brown, who has finally created a time travel machine out of a Delorean (I want One) using plutonium (nuclear muthafucka). He tests it and it works, but then he is gunned down by some random Libyans who just want their nuclear shit back. Marty jumps in the Delorean and drives 88 miles per hour to escape and bam bum bam, he's in 1955.

Now that he's in the fifties he meets his dad who is a total pushover (well he is a pushover back in the eighties too). Marty's dad (the weird, but fun Crispin Glover) is pushed around by Biff, who's a frekin' giant. Anyway somehow he messes up how his parents meet. Marty's mom (the beautiful Lea Thompson) has the hots for him now instead of Marty's dad. Now Marty has to reunite his mom and dad before he ceases to exist. Plus Marty and 1950s Doc Brown must time when the lightning hits the clock tower, which is enough energy for time machine needs to travel back to 1985 (1.21 gigawatt). Like I said there is a whole of shit going on and it's fun as hell.

The movie is perfect in every sense of the world and the famous skateboard is unforgeable too. This is a real landmark film that spawned two nice sequels, a theme park ride (kick azz), and even a Saturday morning cartoon (of course there would be one). I have plenty of favorite films, but this one tops the cake. That's it so goodbye and I'll talk about some other stuff later. Holla!

Classic Biff line
Biff: Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here! (LoL)

The Beginning

Well well ladies and gentlemen (cliche). This is my first blog and my name is the talented Johnny Bushido at your services. This is my first actual blog as my previous blogging heaven came from myspace (so 2005). Eventually I started writing notes on Facebook, which I tried to make some sort of blog thingy. Now this is official and now I can bitch and rant about anything.

My blog is going to be about the one thing I love most in the world (besides momma n poppa). It's movies, but I guess you can figure that out by yourself unless you're just stupid. At my college (yay I'm a college boy) my major is electronic media so it's perfect! I love movies and I can learn how to make them! It's like having your cake and eating it too (cliche).

So my blog is going down like this. Since it's Academy Awards season I will b ranting about my Oscar predictions and the snubbed ones. Plus I will be talking about the shit that's going down in the film world right now. I will put up reviews and you could c a Shutter Island review posted (I heart Scorsese) even before the film comes out. I'll talk about my favorite movie and my all time worse film that I have seen. I will also be talking bout the upcoming summer movie coming down from the movie heavens. In addition, I'll post some previous entries from my facebook and myspace pages if there somewhat relevant.

So that the whole cheese compredes (???). Join me on what will be a fantastical wonder journey. This is Johnny Bushido and y'all come back now (cliche).
